Cattleack BBQ – Dallas

I tried an unbelievably amazing barbecue joint in Dallas recently called Cattleack Barbecue. The location was not where you would expect a top-notch BBQ joint – it is housed in an industrial park not far from 635 and the Dallas North Tollway. It is only open Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30am – 2pm (or until sold out), plus the first Saturday of the month, from 10:30am – 2pm or until sold out as well. For me and my barbecue buddy, Jeff, there was an hour+ wait. But it was totally worth it. The brisket was incredible. The pork ribs as well. The brisket burnt ends were heavenly. And the turkey breast was delicious.

All of that is expected at a top-notch BBQ joint. In addition to all that, what I believe put them in the #3 spot in the 2017 Texas Monthly Top 5 is their sides. Oh my goodness – their sides!! The brisket burnt end smoked beans were killer, and the jalapeño cheesy grits were to die for! Oh — and did I say that they make their own pickles? To cap it off we had to try their dessert called “crack cake” (no joke). Amazing stuff!! Totally worth the wait. Don’t pass up the opportunity to eat there if you get the chance.
